Hossein Amir-Abdollahian discussed the latest developments in the region, especially the developments in Palestine, in a phone call with Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman on Monday evening.
Referring to the crimes committed by the Zionist regime against the Palestinian people in recent months, the Iranian foreign minister stated, "In recent months, 260 Palestinians, including 40 children and 11 women, were martyred by the Zionists, and the detention of Palestinians in the West Bank has intensified, and the number of Palestinian prisoners has reached about 5,000 people, of whom about 200 are women and children."
Amir-Abdollahian added, "At the same time, attacks and military aggressions and insults and attacks on the Al-Aqsa Mosque are continuously on the agenda of the Zionist regime, and the result of these actions by the Zionist regime is the response of the resistance."
While appreciating Oman's positions in supporting the Palestinian people, the Iranian minister said, "Iran and Oman have always supported Palestine, and in the current situation, the people of Gaza and the West Bank need the support of Islamic governments more than ever."
The head of the Iranian diplomatic apparatus pointed to the phone conversations he had with some ministers of Islamic countries and suggested that an emergency meeting of the ministers of OIC members be held soon.
The top Omani diplomat also stated in the phone call that "in light of the martyrdom of hundreds of innocent and homeless civilians in Gaza, we, like the other countries of the world and the region, express our sympathy with the Palestinian people."
Albusaidi emphasized that the Palestinian issue should be at the top of the world agenda and the international community should recognize the right of Palestinians to determine their own fate and liberate the occupied territories.
